Tim I think you make a solid sound argument against social justice and how we should view the poor. I can't argue with this post. It challenged some of my perspectives. Thanks

Good job Tim. In the book of 100 of the best missions articles of the past few hundred years, Perspectives on World Missions by Stephen Hawthorne and ???, there is an article that tells the story of a time in recent history when a new missions movement was rising, but when the social gospel was added, it killed the whole movement.

Ressie, Maybe you could share some of your ideas that would elaborate upon what we are doing at Kingdom Citizenship. I am looking forward to it.

We absolutely love your website and find almost all of your post's to be exactly what I'm looking for. Do you supply guest writers to write content for you? I wouldn't mind composing a post or elaborating on a few of the subjects you write related to here. Again, awesome blog!

Ounbbl, I understand what you are saying... However, I find what you said to be munching of words... While you say "inherency" is about "God's Word" ( I assume you to mean what He said) you turn right back around and reduce God's revelation to a volume with 66 books which was consolidated by a series of councils that can in no way be established as "inspired" to do so.

The bible is not the sum total of God's words as He is both speaking today and speaking through people. While the content of what God is showing people today is not as sound for basic doctrine today as it was by those who walked with Jesus, it is not less valuable.

A Bible (i.e. a translation), like a vessel, is to hold the Scripture, though many translation/paraphrase works have failed to prove themselves to be what is supposed to be.
The Scripture [in the original language], like a vessel, holds the Word of God.
It is, however, the Word of God that is inerrant.

A doctrine of the inerrancy is about the God's Word [- not the Bible, nor the Scripture written down by human hands -] and as such assures believers that we may have total confidence in God’s revelation to us is to be found in the Bible.

As a fairly young believer, the Lord opened a scripture to me: Galatians 6:1-2. He highlighted the word "spiritual" and allowed me to see that we should not go in our flesh to set things right with another caught in sin. Those who are spiritual meant to me that I had a responsibility to intercede in prayer for the Lord to bring healing, deliverance, cleansing to the person He had allowed me to see caught in sin.

And, IF the Lord wanted me personally to go to that person, He would give me specific words to convey - His words - that would bring healing.

Two weeks later, I was put into a position to test this revelatory insight. Asked to go confront a teacher who was teaching in error, I said, "Let's pray and see what God will do."

Immediately, the teacher stopped teaching erroneously and the Lord got the credit for the healing.

Relationship with the Lord is the bedrock of our life - if we want to live in His Kingdom.

Scripture serves as a window through which we see His Kingdom at work - if we are humble enough to accept it.

From beginning to end, the Bible is a message of relationship -- God's character and love for mankind (and me in particular).

I have read a few of your posts (the priesthood, who would Jesus kill, and this one), and I must say that I find it refreshing and encouraging to see many of my own thoughts expressed more clearly than I have been able to say them. Thank you for helping me down the road away from orthodoxy and into the arms of my Savior.

Obie, Thanks for your comments... Yes, there are a few "rabbit trails" however they are supportive to the core. Many, like you and I, are in similar boats. We can't find groups that aren't threatened by how we come off or what we've been given. That is truly sad. Nobody is as smart as all of us...yet few want the true inclusiveness of "all of us." Hopefully in writing we can encourage a bleak situation. I have a feeling what we are doing is planting seeds for a season upcoming that God will cause to grow. Thanks again!

of the things i have read (of yours) this is by far the most well-written and cogent presentation. although, you still managed a few gazelle-like runs of logic in a few places.

if more 'christians' openly discussed and behaved in a manner reflective of these sentiments, i'd go back to hanging out with them (unless, of course, my presence would be ruinous; which is likely).

there are details beyond the scope of this article but it is a very, very good first step in trying to address what i have come to believe are the real problems in the modern expression of those attempting to follow jesus. there is enough meat here to fuel hundreds of hours of gentle (if not gentile) dialogue -- where there those among the household of faith who would climb down off their various hobby-horses and get on to something really meaningful.

alas, i am losing hope for this . . .
